Bedding was made with shredded newspapers, two handfuls of soil and a little cardboard. Feeding it only veggies, fruits non citrus and teabags from the kitchen garbage bin. It all got a little too damp as you can tell from the pics , so I added a bit of coco coir. It's so easy to get such amazing organic compost, I'm surprised more people aren't doing this either that, or am I wrong and lots of people are already on it, which would be great IMGWA You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: My worm farm for Earth Worm Castings Post by newton » July 12th, , pm Great stuff, you can also add crushed eggshells for grit that helps the worms to digest the food quicker, please keep us updated with the results. I'll keep updating this here The Red Wiggler is able to lay 3. These cocoons are round in shape and change color during the development cycle, first white, then yellow and lastly brown. The cocoon can produce 3 to 4 baby worms.
These worms are sensitive to vibrations so its best to feed worms once or twice a week. Make sure not to over feed worms, by alternating locations of food within the bins. Make sure to cover food with bedding after feeding. The use of egg shells sprinkled on top of bedding helps control PH level. You can feed worms non citrus fruits, vegetables, tea bags, coffee grounds, coffee filters and crushed egg shells. Manure from horses, cows and rabbits are good as long as they have been composted a little so they don't heat up worm bin.
