Aralon where to find sapphires

Press them to see the names of the locations. If the arrow on the map says you are exactly at a place, and yet you cannot see that place, then probably you are way above it or below it. In a few situations, it can be very important to wait. When you are in a cave or dungeon or castle , the map does not change to show the trails in the cave.

But the map-arrow still shows which way you are going, and its position can give you a relative idea of where in the cave you are. In order to perform the main line quest, you will have to do a lot of fighting and leveling up.

Side-quests help! Some give you a lot of experience. There are Runes in this game. If an item has reached its maximum in rune effects, then applying a rune also removes the effect of a previous rune. It is very useful. Never forget that the safety ring is the quickest way back to Callaheim. How did that happen?

You respond, and where are you? Well, your attacker was not close enough to bring up your sword and shield battle icons. You tried to swing your sword, but you only pressed the handle for the cave entrance. You can join all three guilds and do all their quests. After you offer to join and get assigned to a quest, check their guildbox and hope for booty. I think you need to keep only one guild key.

The Knights guild gives you one biggie: easy entry into the Mansion, worth lots of Exp and Booty. The Guardians guild gives you one quest that I think is unbalanced within the game: 50, exp for killing the King Minotaur.

This is a tough quest, but it can be accomplished when you are around level 23 in Normal game play, not Casual , and you might get THREE levels up for that 50, You may feel that joining more than one guild is not proper role-play. If so, consider being a Paladin, for whom all three guilds are highly appropriate. Caves, and the mansion, and the ancient vampire, regenerate, creating excellent opportunities to grind up. Mounts horses, wolves, drakes are handy for riding fast through familiar places.

Mounts make it possible to run past foes and not fight them. The drake mount is good at falling from great heights without injury. I prefer to build up my defense as fast as I can, but of course there are other ways to play the game. I use my gold to buy defense whenever I find an item that is much better than what I already have.

I think that this is the way to use gold:. Rush around there and try to prevent that ruffian from killing a citizen. If you fail, well, you can loot the citizen. You may find more ruffians nearby, or they may find you, so it pays to save before attacking the first ruffian.

Ruffians level up after a while, so they are good sport. I think the game does not tell you, but you can get a pretty good idea by watching how kills and quest exp affect your green line.

Make yourself into a female character, and smile when people address you as 'sire'. Please explore my fantasy novels, my website, and my occasionally amusing blog:. And I have another novel on the way. As you find them, please report them to me. The first steps of the main story are obvious. Darius will tell you to speak with Gorak in the palace.

Enter the royal palace in East Callaheim. In the first room, go through the right side door and keep turning right, up, up and up, to the top level where you will find Gorak.

He will give you spirit dust, with which to talk to the dead queen. Keep it! But if you accidentally sell it, go back to Gorak and talk carefully to him, and he will give you more. You may have to do side quests for a while, to get strong enough to handle this quest. In the old sewers, find the crypt. Save your game often inside the crypt, there are nasty traps that kill you at once unless you pass them at exactly the right moment.

Return and speak with Gorak. Now go back to Darius in West Callaheim, whether Gorak tells you to do that or not.

He will send you to the library to find something useful to use against Mereficus. Peruse the library with care, and read everything. One book will give you the craft to make quality potions. You can put the books back after reading them, if you want to be very, very lawful. Back to Darius. Darius will advise you to speak to Vierne in Karn. Exit Callaheim into the North Kingdom.

Go all the way north, to Cold Sands Hold and Keep. This is a friendly stopover place with terrific traders. The Knights guild gives you an introduction to Fargus. I do not know whether he will talk to you otherwise.

When I was a lawful rogue, I sometimes had to level up a few times to get quests from Fargus. Exit the North gate into the "Outlands". There are two maps called Outlands. You are now in the tamer outlands west of the Eastern Sea. Go a short way north, near the sea, to the place that is marked on the map by multiple black dots. This is the town of Karn. There is a drake carcass on the beach search it! You will need at least three.

Once you've found a Yuma plant, you will easily recognize them. Yuma plants regenerate their seeds. There are at least three Yuma plants, but you can easily get two before you visit Sunclaw, and more from the same plants before you return to Vierne. Visit Vierne in Karn and learn potion recipes from her. She will mention the Sceptre of Hammara.

Go to the drake's carcass on the beach if you haven't already and collect the broken dragon's tooth. Go west to Sunclaw's lair on the same outlands map. Talk to Sunclaw about his broken tooth and promise to bring him the balm. Return to Vierne. I recommend bringing one superb healing potion with you. Or, you can buy it next door to Vierne. Vierne will teach you how to make the balm, and you can make it in her hut with the 3 yuma seeds and the superb healing potion.

Now, back to Sunclaw. Heal him with the balm. Select Temple of Azra. He will offer to take you to Drake Island, which is off the continent, across the eastern sea. Step outside his lair, and you're off! Incidentally, if you want, you can swim to Drake Island yourself. Swim a long way, northeast from Karn, and aim for the spot where the distant background changes color.

When Sunclaw drops you on the island, find the drake nest with the red drake egg. When you see the nest, you'll know what it is.

Take the egg. Also, find the chest and take the Temple seal. Link the egg so you can use it; it calls drake mounts for you.

But do not call a mount now; hunt around the island to find Sunclaw, waiting to take you back. He will drop you off at the Temple of Azra, which might be just what you want.

If Sunclaw seems not to be there, swim to Karn and walk to Azra yourself. You will cross two wooden bridges to reach the temple entrance. Consider doing some sidequests to level up before you face Azra. No need to hurry to get there! There are many skeletons to fight in the temple, sometimes three at once. They are worth about xp each. For maps of the temple of Azra, see: Maps of the Temple of Azra. The temple is an enormous place with looong halls. You will spend a lot of time there.

Do yourself a favor, and be picky about what loot you add to your inventory. By the way, if you reach a certain high level, e. I believe this is a general aspect of the game: you get no exp for killing total pushovers.

Enter the Temple for which you need the Temple Seal from the chest on drake island. In the temple, find the room where you have to climb down into a sort of maze with fire around it.

From the entrance, go up the stairs and turn left. The first gateSwitch is in a corner of this room. Then climb back up, turn left to go under a now-lifted gate, find a floor that tilts upward, walk across it to throw the other gateSwitch you will be looking down at that same maze room when you throw it. Now go back down, cross that fiery room and climb up on the other side, Go down a floor that tilts downward you hear a soft click.

At the top of this hill, the entrance to the mountain pass to the Western Kingdom and the tents next to it will be on the left. Continue past these and down another hill. There will be a coven witch on the left and then one on the right there is also a ruined house. The skybloom is on the right side of the path prior to the ruined house but further from the path. This is the only guild quest that takes place outside of the Northern Kingdom, in the first outland.

Chest - there is a chest to the left of the Smugglers' Cove that is hidden. If you enter the sand dunes and rocks on the hill above the Cove to the left of the cove if you are facing it , there is a chest guarded by four Smugglers. He will always be an enemy to you afterward. Inside the Keep, there are three chests with great loot and close to gold that you can simply take. As you enter the Keep, the first chest is behind the second set of bunks on the left in the main room. The other two chests are in a back room down a hallway to the left of the main room.

Before heading out to do quests for the main or side quests, make sure you have stocked up sufficiently because there will be only two places in the Outlands to purchase supplies from a small shop in Karn and from Grokk the Goblin at the northernmost point of the first outland and each of these merchants only have a few items for sale. Like the Border Wars quest above, this quest only asks you to seek out Warrek and speak with him.

Warrek resides in Redrock Bay in the Western Kingdom. Transportation by Sea - if you want to travel quickly to Redrock Bay, you can travel by ship via the East Callaheim harbor. The cost is fifty gold but is a good way to avoid a lot of fighting getting to Redrock Bay otherwise. I do not complete this quest until I have completed all of the guild quests, the quest given by Warrek in the Western Kingdom and the "Rescue Gorak" quest given by Darius in West Callaheim. The orcs you will be fighting in this quest are at least level 31 and as high as 37 Uthu.

When you first travel into the first outland, the enemies you will fight e. By completing the quest from Warrek Minotaur King - levels , fighting the Rock Giants levels and the Corrupt Knights, Priestesses and Lord Valemar levels you will have progressed more steadily and the leveling up will be smoother. You will also have more attributes and loot to protect you. You cannot receive this quest until you complete "The Orc War" challenge.

I complete this challenge and the Orc War challenge together. This way, you only have to make one trip into the desert, saving time. Additionally, you don't have to worry about accidentally killing one of Captain Fargus' men and becoming an outlaw on this quest since you will be in the fortress alone.

If you do become an outlaw, you cannot complete this quest and it will cost you in terms of leveling up. Outland One Sand Outland Challenges - there is one quest given in the first outland and you can choose to complete it or not.

If you want the dragon to take you to Drake Island to retrieve the key to the Temple of Azra, you must complete this quest. There are several things you must do to complete this quest. Sunclaw's Tooth - on the beach south of Karn, there is a dead Drake carcass.

One of Sunclaw's teeth is broken in the carcass and you must take the tooth. You may learn about the tooth from Katami in Karn too. Speak with Vierne - after you find the tooth, you must speak with Vierne in Karn.

Note - at this first meeting, she will not give you the soothing balm recipe. She simply tells you to seek out Sunclaw. Pick Yuma Plants - Yuma plans are necessary for the soothing balm as well as quality health and restoration potions.

There are three yuma plants in the desert around Karn. The first is behind the shop and Vierne's hut a few yards into the desert. The second is next to two cacti a few yards behind Katami's hut in Karn. The third plant is several yards behind and in between the first two plants.

Each time you enter a hut or speak with Sunclaw, you will be able to collect more yuma plants. The restoration and health potions only require one plant each and it is worth picking as many plants as possible since the potions work well. Speak to Sunclaw - if you don't know about the tooth, he will not give you the soothing balm quest. The quest is worth 1, gold and 4, exp. You need a superb health potion, which you can either get in Cold Sands Hold or in Karn at the shop next to Vierne's hut, and three yuma plants.

Mix these together and you will create the balm. Take them back to Sunclaw and she will take you to Drake Island. Western Kingdom Challenge s - there are three quests in the western kingdom and one other challenge you may choose to pursue. The Minotaur King - given by Warrek in his Western Kingdom house and worth 1, gold and 50, exp. Note that you cannot receive this quest without first completing the Speak with Warrek quest first.

Fero Plants - there are two fero plants in the grass to the left and right of the path leading to the Minotaur Warrens. I have never been able to figure out what they are for because I have no crafting recipe that uses them but each pod I sell is worth gold so they are worth collecting.

This particular quest is one of the most difficult in the game to complete and I do not complete it until after I have defeated the Ice Elemental Queen, the Fire Elemental Kings yes, there are three kings , Sheba and retrieved Icefang's egg from the dragon Ashmore. The crested axe you are searching for is in the swamplands in the Northern Kingdom.

The entrance to the swamplands is in the valley where the giant spiders are located. Swamp Beasts - the swamp beasts in the swamp lands are, next to Merificus, Sheba and Icefang, the most highly leveled and some of the most difficult enemies to defeat. They are leveled at and they can spray a poison on you that is fairly detrimental to you, no matter how highly leveled you are.

That's why you want to save this quest until later in the game when you have a fair chance of defeating the beasts. Red Fern Plants - in order to make the strong health potion that Harl Windsin gave you, you must retrieve three red fern plants. These plants only grow in the swamplands and there are three plants in the swamp. Mid-Western Side Above Lake - The first is located on the western side of the swamp, in the middle between north and south.

It is just above a lake this lake also has hidden treasure in it. Far Northeast Side on Incline - the second plant is located on a slight incline at the north end of a lake on the far east side.

Mid-Eastern Side - the last plant is located about halfway up the swamplands on the east side. There is no lake around it. Hidden Treasure - there are two hidden chests in the swamplands and they have some of the best, if not the very best, loot in the game. They have things like superb emerald studded vests, superb hunters pants, superb steel armor, swords of wounding and ruby swords, whirling axes and shade axes among other things.

It is definitely worth finding these chests because you won't find the loot anywhere else and it is the best out there, surpassing even the armor and weapons in Cold Sands Hold.

Mid-Western Lake - on the western side of the swamplands, there is a lake about halfway between the north and south ends. The chest here is behind some boulders. The red fern mentioned above is right above this lake. Northeast Lake - the chest here is in a lake just to the left west to the one mentioned above with the red fern above it.

It also is behind some boulders in the lake. Finding Phtok and Crested Axe Spoiler - many people seem unable to find the crested axe needed to complete this quest so below is a detailed description that will take you right to it. As I said above about the Temple of Azra, I hesitate to include this and I encourage you all to search for it on your own. If you just search systematically through the swamplands you will find it without any problem - that's what I did to find it.

Nevertheless, if you are well and truly unable to find it, here is the way to it. Enter the swamplands. There is a lake in front of you - go around the right side of this lake and travel to the spot where a large tree has fallen and is laying diagonally from the ground up into the trees yes, there will also be another tree in front of you slightly to the right that has fallen but you don't need to travel that far.

From there, turn left and travel around the bottom of a lake to a tree with an inverted "S" shape on the trunk. Continue going to the left around the tree and the bottom of another lake to a group of four trees and two rocks. Phtok and the crested axe is on the left side of the rocks under a tree. You must travel to the second outland with snow and hot springs to speak with the dragon Icefang.

Giants' Den - there is no quest associated with the rock giants in the Western Kingdom that I am aware of, but it is worth fighting them and going through the Giants' Den. The giants have forged and crafted weapons and armor so you can pick up great gear from them.

It is also easy to find the Den. From Redrock Bay, take the path toward Valemar Keep. Before the right turn onto the path leading up to the Keep, go straight into the grass. You will find giants around the corner to the left. Keep traveling on the grass to the left until you encounter the Giants' Den. Chests - there are three chests inside the Giants' Den.

Two are on the first level and a third is on the second level. These chests contain great armor and weapons. There is also Fine Elfweave Armor and strong health, energy and restoration potions. You can also leave the Den, re-enter it and get more loot from the chests because they get replenished with different loot each time you re-enter.

There are Corrupt Priestesses you must fight that require some skill to defeat levels and lots of chests and loot to recover - nine different chests. Battling Priestesses - the priestesses in Valemar Keep are somewhat difficult to defend against because they have the ability to stun you with a freezing spell from far away.

The best way to avoid this, I've found, is to start an attack before they start their spell. Even if you have to start your move some feet away, it is worth it, not to be stunned for seconds at the start of the fight. For Ranger and Rogue, the best attack is a stealth blow because you can get in your first shot before the enemy even sees you.

As a Mage, you can start a ranged attack far enough away to prevent being stunned too. Chests - there are nine chests from which you can take loot in Valemar and all of them, except the chest that holds only dungeon chamber keys, have good or great loot to take. Valemar Keep Courtyard - the first chest is in a tower in the Courtyard.

From the entrance, take the ramp in front of you. At the top of the ramp, turn to the right and take the stairs up to a tower. Fight two Priestesses or Knights and take the loot from the chest in the back of the room. In each of these bedchambers, there are two chests.

One is the chest near the end of the room on the right side, the other is the cabinet near the entrance of the room also on the right side. Main Floor Open Chamber - after exiting the bedchambers above, keep traveling further into the main floor.

The first open space you enter will have a chest in it on the far left side of the room. Rooms Leading to Second Floor - after passing through the open space above continue traveling forward to another room that leads, to the left and right, to two smaller rooms. Each of these smaller rooms lead to the second floor of the keep and they both contain a chest.

You must kill one corrupt knight to get the loot from the chests. Valemar Dungeons - the final chest is in the Valemar Dungeons. After entering the Dungeons, go through the pit and past the lake of lava. Go up the passageway that begins after the lake until you reach the end. The chest is in the back of the room.

Gorak is held in Cell 1 so you will only need that key. Once you complete the Oath quest, she will give you the Egg challenge, 50, exp. Crafting - as far as I know, you can only craft potions, a soothing balm and two stews in this game. I've tried to forge and upgrade armor and weapons but have never been able to do so. Here are the recipes I've obtained throughout the game. I don't think it is worth purchasing this book because a diluted energy potion hardly gives you any energy. Moreover, to make the potion, you actually decrease the value of the willow leaf.

The leaf itself is worth 10 gold whereas the potion is only worth 7 gold. This seems to be the equivalent of a weak energy potion. Locations for Fishing - there are several places where you can fish for small fish - the river next to the Old Mill close to Timbers Bend, the sea coast near Taryn Ridge, the river in West Callaheim and the sea in East Callaheim.

The yuma plants needed for the recipe are near the first outland settlement Karn. The sky blooms are located throughout the Northern Kingdom - one in the valley where the Giant Spiders are, one next to a house near the edge of Lake Windspray and a third between the valley where the spiders are and Lake Windspray. It is guarded by a Coven Witch.

You need both Yuma seeds and Skyblooms to make this potion and their locations are listed immediately above. Strong Health Potion - from Harl Windsin in the middle tent that is located next to the mountain pass leading to the Western Kingdom.

The only place to get red fern plants is in the swamp lands in the Northern Kingdom. Soothing Balm - you will receive the recipe from Vierne in Karn. She will not give you this recipe until you have accepted the quest from Sunclaw to bring him a soothing balm. Greenfin Location - there is only one place to catch Greenfin Nibblers as far as I am aware. There is a fishing spot on the dock next to the space where Harg Gutter stands in East Callaheim where you can catch Nibblers.

I always try to save up and get superb gear as soon as possible because regardless of your class, good armor makes a difference in how long you live.

Superb Armor - can be bought in Cold Sands Hold. Otherwise, armor and weapons are sold on the right side of the Hold as you enter from the Northern Kingdom. Head and Shoulder Armor - the only place to purchase head and shoulder gear in the entirety of the game is from Benn's Helms and Pauldrons in West Callaheim.

Capes - capes are hard to find throughout the Kingdom and I've tried to list as many places I know you can receive them below. Purchase - with each class, you can always purchase either a dragon or demon cape. These capes are excellent armor when you start the game because you will not have built up your attributes or skills and you won't have much armor. This is the easiest way to obtain a cape, obviously.

Unther's Cave - in the second outland in the part with snow , there is a cave with a troll - Unther. Sheba's Lair - I almost always receive a fire cloak after defeating Sheba. However, this task is very late in the game so you won't have the cape for long. Nevertheless, it is one of the best clocks to have.

Sometimes I receive it, sometimes I don't - you just have to go there, defeat the enemies and hope you get what you want. Runes - you will receive runes fairly often as part of rewards or in chests throughout the game. An important fact to note - only one rune can be attached to armor or weapon at a time. Be careful when you apply runes to armor and weapons to make sure they benefit you. Hidden Treasure - there are lots of places with treasure chests that are slightly off the beaten path but have good loot in them.

I mention them with the quests they may relate to below but I've also included them here for ease of reference. Once you have gone through the gate from the old mill, look to the right. After you go down a hill to the river and cross it, there is a hill on the other side.

There is a sunberry bush and a chest at the top of that hill. After going through the gate at the old mill, travel along the path and fight two bandits and pass the gnoll cave. There is a little opening on the left between an obelisk and a large bust - there is a chest guarded by two bandits. There is a chest in the sea next to Taryn Ridge. Dive in to the left of the fishing spot and head toward the two big boulders on the left side of the screen.

The chest is located behind the boulder on the right. There is a chest on the island in the middle of Lake Craythorn. I always get this treasure because it invariably includes a piece of superb armor or a superb weapon. This allows you to get a piece of great armor early on, if your character can use it, or at the least it can be sold for at least gold. There is a chest behind the waterfall in Kargath's Lair. You will reach it after crossing the first bridge and coming to the second one.

Dive into the water to the left of the bridge and swim under the waterfall. The chest is just a few feet underneath it. As pretty much every website now says, you can get easy money from talking to Sufok in Taryn Ridge. You can then abandon the quest, sell Sufok back the deed and collect gold.

Repeat this process as many times as you want! Enter the house and there is a chest on the right. You might have to use a pickpocket or open lock skill to open it but it is otherwise free to you. There are two ruffians inside you must defeat but also two chests. One on the first floor on the right side.

The second is on the second floor on the right side of the bed. Darius' House - when you speak to Darius, you can take the gold and loot from the chest in his house. You will not become an outlaw by doing so. Regardless of whether you join this guild, however, you can take the gold and loot from the chest in his house.

Cold Sands Hold - as mentioned above, there are three chests in Cold Sands Keep that contain approximately gold and other weapons and armor. Generally, I do not take this loot until I have finished most of the guild quests but the chests are available any time. The gold will help buy some great armor or a weapon so it might be wise to use this gold early in the game.

Thieves Den - there are two chests in the thieves den in the Callaheim Sewers. You must defeat some formidable enemies i. Kila, Jasper Redhand, Lars Lightfoot but they will give you access to some toxins and poisons if you are playing rogue and they will help you level up quickly for all of the classes. Old Tunnels Corpses - there are two corpses in the old tunnels off of the Callaheim Sewers. The first is at the end of the left side tunnel off of the main path.

The second is located across from the Ancient Crypt on the main tunnel. Ancient Vampire - also in the old tunnels, off to the right of the main path, there is an Ancient Vampire. His level is 35 so you must fight hard but you will receive at least one or two great weapons from the kill.

There is also a chest at the back of the area where the vampire lives. You receive somewhere between gold plus some great loot, possibly including a cape. West Callaheim Mansion - when you first enter the mansion, there are two chests in each of the east and west bedrooms. There are chests on the main floor as well as on the second floor to the right of the bed. In addition to these four chests, there are another three chests on the main floor with good loot in them too. Spider Lair Corpse - if you fight and defeat the giant spider queen, travel to the end of her web away from the direction you entered the cave.

If you jump down or use Helga's Ring or a Greenfin Stew to the other side of the cave, you will find a corpse there. To get back to the other side, go to the left side of the opening, walk onto a strand in the far left corner until it intersects with two other strands.

Take the strand that follows the wall back to the opening where you entered the web and exit. Five are easy to spot since they are simply part of different rooms.

However, the sixth chest is under water at the end of the burrows. You must go down a short path that leads to water and a waterfall. You must defeat one Dark Gnome Assassin, swim into the water and the chest is located on the left side of the water. Armor Shop - you can just enter the armor shop in Redrock Bay and take the gold from the chest by the counter. You don't have to fight anyone or buy anything in the shop. You can open the chests in the other shops and in the homes of Redrock Bay residents i.

Warrek, Koln, Arrick but there is nothing in the chests so it isn't worth checking them. This is a great place to pick up armor and weapons because there are three chests inside the Den, all with at least four or five different things like emerald studded boots, claw blade with power, fine bear hide armor and such.

Also, even if you take everything from the chests, they will be full with different things if you go back to it repeatedly. Chest in Sea - there is a chest in the sea in front of Redrock Bay. You must swim out to the rocks that are showing out of the water from the shore and swim to the bottom on the side away from shore. The chest is to the right when you reach the bottom.

Valemar Keep Courtyard - as you enter Valemar Keep, go up the ramp directly in front of you. When you reach the top, turn right and go up the stairs to the tower. There is a chest in the back of the room.

In the hallway, there are doors to two bedchambers. Each of the Bedchambers contain two rewards - one chest and loot in a cabinet. First Outlands - there are five what I consider "hidden" chests in the first Outland. Karn - you may take the gold and loot from the chests in Katami's, Vierne's and Hawth's chests without fighting them or becoming an outlaw. You will obtain at least a few hundred gold from each of them.

Smuggler's Cove - when you are facing the Smuggler's Cove, you will see a hill on the left side of the cove. If you go up the hill and between the rocks you will find another chest guarded by three smugglers. One part of it leads straight to Uthu's Fortress, while there is another pocket that juts off to the right. There is a chest and campfire here that is guarded by two orcs. Second Outlands - there are many chests in the Second snow and hot springs Outland.

Although they are less hidden than others, I mention them here because you don't have to encounter them at all. Lair of the Ice Elemental Queen - at this point in the game, you will probably be at a pretty high level e. With most of the Elementals, you will receive a gem of some type so it is worth seeking out the queen. In her Lair, there are four chests with loot. The loot is excellent here - superb armor and potions, high power weapons and runes too. Unther's Cave - this is also in the snow part of the second Outland.

When you fight and kill Unther, you will receive the Cloak of Meditation, which is a great cape to have. Cavern of the Fire Elemental King - while there is only one chest in the cavern, it is worth seeking it out. The loot, along with what you receive from the chests in the swamplands, is the best in the game. You cannot purchase this armor or weaponry and it is generally levels higher than the best superb gear from Cold Sands Hold.

Shadowspire Mines - while there is only one chest in the mines, you can fight two dragons: Ashmore and Sheba. Each of the dragons have substantial loot when you beat them. Further, when you work your way through the mines, you will be fighting Grawls, all of which have superb armor and weapons. You will get great loot from every fight you engage in here. Sheba's Lair - you should not try to reach Sheba's Lair until after you have defeated Ashmore. The only way out of there is to use the Safety Ring or a Teleportation sheet you purchase for Karma points so unless you want to have to work your way, at the shortest, from Icefang's Lair all the way through the Mines again to retrieve Icefang's egg, wait until you have collected it and then head back to Sheba's Lair.

Fire Cloak - I almost always receive a fire cloak once I defeat Sheba. However, she is the most difficult opponent in the game more difficult even than Merificus and Icefang and you won't reach her until you are almost at the end of the game.

You won't get a whole lot of use out of the cloak as a result. Getting to Sheba's Lair - in order to reach Sheba's Lair, you must take a Greenfin Stew or wear Helga's ring and go over the side of the ledge facing the entrance to the Dark Chasm.

After you have defeated Ashmore, return back through tunnels. Facing the entrance to the Dark Chasm, go to the furthest point left on the ledge. From here, go over the side and follow the indentation on the rock until you reach Sheba's Lair.

Speak with Sufok - this is the first quest you receive. It comes from Sir Roderick in your house in Timbers Bend and is worth exp. Find Darius - given by Sufok in Taryn Ridge.

This is where you will receive the grey stallion deed. Once you have spoken with the queen, Gorak will instruct you to tell Darius. Research - Darius will have you research what could break Merificus' spell and instruct you to search the East Callaheim Library.

This is where you will find the Temple of Azra and the Scepter of Hammara. Retrieve the Scepter of Hammara - Darius will tell you to seek out Vierne in Karn but you don't strictly have to do this part of the quest. You simply have to find a way into the Temple of Azra and that can be done in one of two ways. Then Sunclaw will take you to Drake Island where she has hidden the key to the Temple and transport you to the door of the Temple. Chests - when you enter the Temple, you want to have as little "stuff" in your inventory as possible.

At a minimum, you must encounter six chests in order to pass through all of the gates and levels. Not including any of the enemies you will face, however, there are a total of twelve chests in the Temple from which you can take loot.

Rescue Gorak - Darius will give you this quest after you have used the Scepter on Merificus. It may seem like you don't actually have to speak with Gorak because at this point, all you have to do is go to Shadowspire and fight Merificus. However, Darius will not give you the Journey to Shadowspire quest until you have freed Gorak so in fact, you do have to complete this quest.

Journey to Shadowspire - there are several quests that can take place between rescuing Gorak and entering Shadowspire. However, you don't have to complete them because you can just go straight to Shadowspire from here. In order to reach it, you must reach the Shadowspire Mines at the northeast corner of the Second Outland. Safety Ring - don't ever get rid of the safety ring. It allows you to get out of sticky situations and is the fastest and easiest way back to Callaheim.

As far as I know, this ring or one of the instant transport sheets you can buy are the only way you can get out of Sheba's Lair. It will appear in your inventory sometime when you are in the Southern Kingdom. It always comes to me before I leave Timbers Bend. Helga's Ring - you must kill Ug, a cave troll in a cave on the land next to Lake Craythorn in the Southern Kingdom, to obtain this ring. This ring is enormously helpful and while there is a quest to obtain it for Og, Ug's brother, I never complete this quest.

If you give the ring back to Og, you can never get the ring back, even if you kill him. As I mentioned above, this is one of only two ways to reach Sheba's Lair. Mounts - according to Crescent Moon Games, there are eight different mounts in Aralon: three different types of horses i. They all all good mounts but my favorites are the dinorat and drake. Horses - you will get a grey stallion deed from Sufok in Taryn Ridge that can be used pretty much anywhere in the Kingdoms.

The downside to horses is that they are fairly slow and it is easy to get thrown off if you hit a rock or anything. Dinorat - you can only purchase this mount with Karma points. It is a great mount, however. You almost never fall off of it, even if you run into something or fall down a hill or off of a ledge.

It is also fast and can easily maneuver around enemies, especially Desert Fangs in the First Outland. You can purchase it at any time too. Wolf - you can collect this mount from Anaya as part of the Sisters of the Night quest.

The wolf is fast but excepting the terror bird, it is the easiest to fall from. Drake - another great mount. You can obtain a drake egg when you are gong to Drake Island to obtain the key to get into the Temple of Azra.

The drakes are similar to dragons, but they are not the dragon mount. Drakes don't fly but you don't have to complete a quest to get a ride on them either. A drake looks fierce, keeping enemies away, at least psychologically! They move easily and will keep you mounted through most things. Like the dinorat, it is fast but agile and can be ridden pretty much anywhere in the Kingdoms.

Terror Bird - you can get a terror bird egg in the Second Outland. If you come up from Icefang's Lair, turn to face left after reaching the top of the circle surrounding Icefang's Lair. Go down the path until you see an archway. Turn left and fight some terror birds until you reach the terror bird nest. The terror bird is jerky to ride and not very fast.
